Rush Foraging Bags

We will use tall rushes harvested from the still waters of Somerset to make these useful bags. Rush is a light, strong and soft material, making it ideal for foraging trips- strong enough to carry apples, soft enough it won’t bruise your berries and light enough you can carry either for miles!

The course is suitable for beginners and will give you the skills you need to make more baskets at home! We will cover several different traditional basketry techniques which will open up the possibilities of soft material basketry. The speed of the individual student will dictate the design of your bag and whether it is open top or has a lid.
